The Saint Dymphna Charity Fund is a "grass roots" and "in the trenches" social service ministry to those who suffer in any way related to a MH/MR issue. The Fund seeks to meet people "where they are" with hopes of improving their situation and fostering a new outlook on life.
Our goal is to manage the charity in a discretionary manner in order to be able to quickly respond to needs as they are encountered. While all funds and distributions are strictly accounted for, there is little "red tape" or "political procedure" to go through in order to address a need. When the need presents itself, it is weighed and measured via two basic criteria:
1) Is the situation directly related to a MH/MR issue?
2) Is the need true and valid, or is it a matter of "charity dependence?"
If these criteria are met, the need is met. Period.
All projects of the Fund are openly posted (confidentially, of course), and financial records are open. No one receives a stipend or salary of any kind for managing the fund. Additionally, we do not invest funds in elaborate marketing campaigns, mailings, or enticements (free gifts). Every dollar donated to this fund goes to work for those in need.
If you are currently blessed with a place to live, clothes to wear, and food to eat, please consider a contribution to this Fund, knowing that you will get the most "bang for your buck" as your donation is directly put to work in meeting a real and manifest need in the life of an everyday person like us.
And please remember: "There but for the grace of God goeth I!"

Our Devotional Saint - Saint Dymphna

The devotional Saint of this charity is Saint Dymphna, the Patron Saint of those who suffer psychologically.
Saint Dymphna was the daughter of a pagan Irish Chieftain, and her mother was known to be the most beautiful woman in all the kingdom.
When Dympna's mother died, the pagan Chieftain thought nothing of attempting to take his own daughter, whose beauty rivaled her mother's, to be his wife.
However, Dymphna was a Christian, and she refused her father and fled for her life. Constantly on the run from her enraged father, Dymphna suffered intense emotional torment and interior pain.
Eventually, the Chieftain captured Dymphna, who continued to refuse him. For her devotion to Christian morality, Dymphna was beheaded by her own father. Her feast day is May 15.
